Modern Luxury Interiors - Boston
October 2019

The October 2019 edition of Modern Luxury Interiors Boston publication featured our Weston clients’ second renovation with us. We added a yoga studio and guest suite to the upper level of their new barn to complement the home that we had renovated in 2018. The interior space offers a fresh, open floor plan showcasing the connection to the beauty of the property in every season.

We are pleased to be recognized as a Winner of Best of Boston Home TM 2015, awarded by Boston Home--Best Architect, Library for our design of this beautiful two story space.

When planning the library we wanted the room to reflect the warm and elegant but understated nature of the client while creating the proper setting for a truly special collection of books. We worked closely with the homeowners to accommodate their various folios, books and documents while also creating cozy spots to curl up with a child and read.  The client wanted to incorporate a bar, but it was important to them that it be discrete and not distract from the beauty of the architectural millwork.  We addressed the clients’ needs by devising a “James Bond” bar hidden behind swinging bookshelves – when the shelves are closed you would never guess the bar is there!

All of us at Abeles & Associates are grateful to our wonderful client for giving us such a unique design opportunity.

The September-October 2014 edition of New England Home magazine featured our kitchen from a recent home renovation in Andover, MA. This project gave us the opportunity to work with the homeowners' modern art collection and tastes within the context of their classic Greek Revival home.

We designed the cabinetry to highlight the walnut grain and chose the appliances, counter material and chairs to complete the bright look of this functional and modern kitchen. The “before” kitchen picture was taken from the same angle. As you can see, we were able to develop a kitchen design that incorporated more natural light by replacing two small windows with sliding glass doors. This revealed the home’s connection to the lovely garden and created a special flow to the rest of the first floor.

This client’s new home was our old friend as we had designed and renovated the kitchen, living room, mudroom and study for the previous homeowner. We enjoyed the chance to work with the new homeowner to bring the home to its full potential with the renovation of the master bedroom, master dressing room and master bathroom as highlighted in the article.

Our kitchen design stood the test of time. The custom hood and cabinetry and the orange pop of the light fixtures are as fresh and fitting today as they were when we originally designed them years ago.

We had tricky issues to consider in the master suite when designing the custom armoire and cabinetry to accommodate sufficient storage while still creating a spacious and relaxing space. In the master bathroom we were able to find a choice Calcutta slab and highlight its beauty by making the counter extra thick.  We enjoyed coordinating the cabinetry, tile, light and plumbing fixtures to create an airy oasis for the client.
